About the event

Join us for a very special NBOC Winter Lunch in the heart of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. This year we have secured the beautiful Princess Royal Gallery, part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy. The Gallery is located within Storehouse 11, an historic Grade I listed building in Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard, and was opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, the Princess Royal.

With its impressive naval heritage and large windows overlooking HMS Victory and Portsmouth Harbour, it provides a spectacular setting for our winter get-together. Members will be treated to a delicious three-course lunch with the option to visit the Historic Dockyard attractions afterwards at a special discounted ticket price.

Lunch Menu

Starter

Red onion, pepper and goats cheese puff pastry tart

Main Course

Chicken breast wrapped in bacon, served with crushed new potatoes scattered

with chives and red wine sauce

Vegetarian option: Mushroom and leak pancakes with garlic sauce

Both main courses will be served with bowls of fresh vegetables.

Dessert

Marshmallow cheesecake on a cookie biscuit base

Tea and coffee will be served afterwards.

We're delighted to be holding the Winter Lunch in such a fantastic location, so why not make a weekend of it and explore everything Portsmouth Historic Dockyard has to offer? When booking your lunch, you'll also have the opportunity to add Portsmouth Historic Dockyard tickets at a special discounted price to visit the attractions at this unique venue, either after lunch on Saturday (or at your leisure on Sunday should you decide to stay the night).

The Mary Rose Museum is a particular highlight. The preserved remains of Henry VIII's famous warship are displayed in an award-winning museum alongside thousands of artefacts recovered from the wreck, offering an extraordinary insight into Tudor life and life at sea.

Then there's HMS Victory, Nelson's famous flagship, she remains open to visitors while undergoing the most extensive conservation project in her 260-year history. The work involves repairing and replacing deteriorated hull timbers and frames, visitors have the unusual opportunity to see this extraordinary work taking place.

There is plenty more to explore too, including HMS Warrior, HMS M.33, the National Museum of the Royal Navy, the Victory Gallery and the Nelson Gallery. A Historic Dockyard ticket can therefore turn the NBOC Winter Lunch into a fascinating day exploring Britain's remarkable naval heritage.
