Membership Rules, Terms and Conditions

1. DEFINITIONS
1.1 Club or NBOC – the Nelson Boat Owners Club
1.2 Rules – this document
1.3 Management – the NBOC Commodore, Vice Commodore, Flag Officer or any one of them acting either individually or collectively
1.4 Full Member – an individual who currently owns, or has previously owned, a Nelson motor boat or alternatively a similar type of semi-displacement boat approved by the Management, together with their spouse or partner
1.5 Associate Member – an individual proposed by a Full Member together with their spouse or partner.
1.6. Member or Members – a Full Member, Associate Member or any group thereof
2. MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES AND PRIVILEGES
2.1 Acceptance for Membership is at the sole discretion of the Management
2.2 A Full Member has voting rights, may attend member-only events and can propose an Associate Member
2.3 An Associate Member does not have voting rights, but may attend member-only events when accompanied by a Full Member
3. MEMBERSHIP TERM AND RENEWAL
3.1 Membership runs on an annual basis from 1 January to 31 December each year
3.2 Members joining partway through the year pay the annual subscription for the month they join and remaining months of the membership year, with renewal due the following January
3.3 The Club does not issue renewal reminders; it is the Members responsibility to ensure payment of their annual subscription is continuous
4. PAYMENT
4.1 Membership subscriptions are payable annually by Bank standing order or electronic transfer
4.2 The payment reference should include the Members name
4.3 Membership is not considered active until payment has been received in full

5. CANCELLATION, SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION

5.1 Members may cancel their membership at any time by giving notification in writing to Management. Cancelling a standing order or failing to pay does not constitute notification
5.2 No refunds will be made in respect of cancelled memberships
5.3 Management reserve the right to suspend or terminate any membership in cases of ineligibility or conduct deemed by them to be inconsistent with Club Rules, principles, values or ethics

6. COMMUNICATIONS AND DATA PROTECTION
6.1 The Club communicates with Members primarily by email and/or WhatsApp for announcements, updates, notification of events and other items of Club news
6.2 By joining, Members consent to the use of their personal data by Management for maintaining Club membership records and other Club purposes in accordance with GDPR
6.3 Personal data will not be shared with third parties. The full Club privacy policy can be viewed on the NBOC website
The NBOC reserves the right to amend these Rules. Any changes will be communicated to Members via email

By submitting payment, Members confirm that they have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Rules
